Púca has been chosen by the Irish Sports Council (ISC) to provide an SMS service for their Anti-Doping Unit, so that they can communicate directly with athletes in a quick and convenient manner.
The main requirement was to enable athletes to text necessary information such as training times & locations so that drug testers can test them at short notice. Athletes automatically receive confirmation of whether or not their message was received.
Púca developed a purpose-built interface between the Irish Sports Council hosted web service and the Púca SMS gateway. Púca also integrated its SMS platform with Visionbox's SIMON software, which is the online application used by the Irish Sports Council for managing processes such as drug test scheduling, results and contact management.
With the integration between Púca and Visionbox occurring at the backend of the system, it makes the communication between the ISC and the athletes a very straight-forward process. All athletes have to do is register their mobile number on the ISC site, and then text their training updates as required to the mobile number, where they will receive automatic confirmation messages upon receipt.
