Meteor Awards SMS voting kicks off

The Meteor Ireland Music Awards 2010 have been launched with the announcement of this year’s nominees and live performances.Recognised worldwide as Ireland’s definitive music awards it will celebrate its ten year anniversary this year.

The event will be held at the RDS Dublin Friday 19th February 2010 in what promises to be the music highlight of the year.  As with previous years Irish music fans will be able to decide the winners of nine major categories by SMS and online voting.

Once again Meteor have teamed up with Púca to deliver a quick and simple SMS voting application for the huge volumes of texts received every year. To nominate their favourite Irish radio DJ, artist or band for a ‘Meteor’ in this year’s awards, music fans simply text VOTE to 085 711 4444 to receive a list of keywords and categories – then they simply choose who they want to win!

The star-studded music spectacular will be presented by international TV presenter Ireland’s Amanda Byram. Performing on the night to celebrate the ten year anniversary will be the best in music, both home grown and international including; Westlife, Snow Patrol, The Script, Florence and the Machine, Paulo Nutini, The Coronas, Pixie Lott and many more to be announced.

Public voting will be live from January 7th allowing the public to decide who will be awarded the accolade of a Meteor Ireland Music Award. Voting for Most Promising New Artist for 2010 will be live from 19th January.

Meteor customers availing of free texts on Anytime Choice Plans can text for FREE, while other Meteor customers can avail of Meteor’s low text rates.

Voting is open online and to all Irish mobile networks and will be charged standard text rates. Everyone who votes will be automatically entered into a competition to win tickets to the 2010 Meteor Ireland Music Awards.
